Year 8/9 Girls Shine in South Ribble Cup Final

On Thursday 22nd May, our Year 8/9 Football team travelled to Lostock Hall Academy to compete in the South Ribble Cup Final. The match was fiercely contested, with both teams showing great skill and determination. Despite several close chances, the score remained 0-0 at half-time.

In the second half, our girls continued to work tirelessly, displaying excellent teamwork and resilience. Unfortunately, Lostock Hall managed to break the deadlock with a goal and the match ended 1-0 in their favour.

Although the result didn’t go our way, we are incredibly proud of the team’s achievement in reaching the final. Their hard work, dedication and sportsmanship throughout the competition have been outstanding. Congratulations to all the players on being well-deserved runners-up! Well done to Jess L, Jess C, Amelia M, Georgia B, Hannah R, Bella P, Sophia W, Lani T, Daisy L, Phoebe B, Seren G, Isabelle M and Ella B.

South Ribble Football Cup

On Thursday 24th April, our Year 10 and 11 Footballers travelled to Balshaw’s High School for the South Ribble Semi-Final Cup Match. The girls played exceptionally, demonstrating high levels of skill throughout and fantastic gamesmanship and team spirit. Despite our best efforts and only having the minimum 11 (no subs), Balshaw’s did win the game. We wish them luck in the final. Well done to all our girls – Neve, Zara, Lucy, Izzy, Lois, Chloe, Lucie, Molly, Holly and a special shout out to the manager’s players’ of the game, Evie and Grace for their amazing effort until the final whistle.

South Ribble Football Cup

On Tuesday 29th April, Miss Bond took the Year 8 and Year 9 football team to St Mary’s High School in Leyland for the semi-finals of the South Ribble Cup. Despite the hot weather, the team played amazingly, showing great teamwork and communication skills throughout the match. The girls won their match 3-0 after full time, with Daisy L scoring the first goal and Phoebe B scoring the remaining 2 goals, putting us through to the finals! The PE department are very proud of you, girls. Well done!

Year 8 Netball Tournament

The Year 8 netball team had their netball tournament at All Hallows on Monday 17th March. The team had 8 matches to play back-to-back and amazingly won 7 out of 8 of those matches and lost 1 match by just 1 goal. The team’s efforts were incredible! Overall, the team placed 2nd in the tournament, losing out by 1 point to All Hallows.  Well done, girls!  The PE department are very proud of you!

Year 8 and Year 9 Football South Ribble Cup

The Year 8 and Year 9 teams came together to represent our school in the U14s South Ribble Cup on Tuesday 18th March. The team played exceptionally well together and had to adapt to each other’s experience and abilities within their game. Many students played in positions they do not often play and adapted brilliantly into their role. All Hallows took the lead at half time with a score of 1-0 and the girls really picked themselves up after a couple of tactical changes for the remainder of the game. During the second half, the girls lifted their heads and worked together as a team to bring the score line to 1-1 taking them into extra time. The team’s performance was incredible, resulting in the girls winning the game 3-1 in extra time! Well done, girls!  The PE department are so proud!

Y7 Netball match Vs Balshaws

On Thursday 20th March the Year 7 netball team had their home league match against Balshaws. It was a very close game, with the 1st quarter ending 3-2 to PGHS, the 2nd quarter ending 8-6 to Balshaws, the 3rd quarter staying the same as the 2nd and the match finishing 10-10. A very close, yet equal game! The team played incredible, putting skills learnt from lessons and tactics developed from training into their match. Well done team!

Y7 Netball Tournament

On Monday 24th March the Y7 Netball team went to All Hallows for their netball tournament. The team hadn’t played all teams in the league before this tournament so didn’t know what to expect from other schools. The team worked hard to secure 3 wins overall! This put the Y7 team in 5th place overall out of all other South Ribble Schools. Well done Y7, the PE department are very proud of you!

Year 9 Netball Tournament

Congratulations to the PGHS Netball Team! A fantastic achievement, finishing 3rd in the South Ribble Netball Tournament! The team secured 7 victories, narrowly missing out against Balshaw’s and All Hallows by just one goal. Every player delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing skill, determination, and teamwork. Well done, team!

Year 7 and 8 Sports Hall Athletics

The Year 7 and 8 sports hall athletics team had their competition at All Hallows on Tuesday 11th March. Each student participated in multiple events across track and field. These included the triple jump, shot put, standing long jump, speed bounce, 4×1 lap relay and 8 lap paarlauf. The teams efforts and resilience during training and the competition were incredible. Both the Year 7 and Year 8 team came 4th overall for their year group against other schools in the South Ribble district. Well done, girls!

Netball

Year 7, Year 8 ‘A’, Year 8 ‘B’, Year 9 and Year 11 Netball against All Hallows Catholic High School.

On Tuesday 11th February, Miss Bond, Miss Shahi and Miss Akers took the Year 7, Year 8 ‘A’, Year 8 ‘B’, Year 9 and Year 11 Netball teams to All Hallows Catholic High School to play their league matches. Netball

Earlier this term, our Year 10 Netballers travelled to All Hallows for a netball fixture. They played well throughout but unfortunately couldn’t secure the win. Fantastic effort by all as always. Well done to Katie, Grace, Scarlett, Mia-Grace, Holly, Faye, Jessica and Jade. A special mention to Katie for being awarded ‘Player of the Game’ by All Hallows.

Recently our Year 8 and Year 11 Netball teams travelled to Balshaw’s High School to compete in a netball fixture. It was a very cold evening but both teams played exceptionally well in tough conditions. Unfortunately, our Year 8’s couldn’t secure the win but our Year 11’s were successful in winning and achieving maximum points for the league. Well done to all the girls that took part.

Year 7 Football Tournament

On Monday 27th January, Miss Bond took the Year 7 football team to the South Ribble 5-a-side football tournament at All Hallows. The students were in a group with All Hallows, Balshaws and Lostock Hall. Despite the students playing really well, the students unfortunately did not qualify for the semi-finals, however spirits and resilience levels were kept high throughout the team.  Well done, girls!
