Learning Support Department

At PGHS our experienced team of staff led by our SENCO, Mrs McGibbon and Deputy SENCO, Miss Parker provide support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). As well as providing in class, small group and 1-1 support they also run breakfast, break and lunchtime clubs.

Our department ensures that:

  • All pupils are entitled to the greatest possible access to a broad and balanced education.
  • All support provided to pupils with SEND is positive: building on achievement not failure.
  • All staff have responsibility for the management of SEND within their classroom.
  • All parents are regarded as equal partners in the support of pupils with SEND.

The School recognises the important of early identification and intervention in order to address the needs of SEND pupils, as identified in the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0-25 years (2014).
