Alumnae

Two former pupils from PGHS are on the BBC’s Women’s Top 100 Power List: Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell and Dame Sue Ion who also feature on our Alumni Wall. We are the only state school in England to have two people on the list!

Dame Sue Ion came back to visit Penwortham Girls’ High School to chat about School life and how it shaped her career.

Dame Nancy Rothwell was also interviewed by BBC Radio 4 programme ‘The Life Scientific’ and featured on Desert Island Discs.

Our former pupil Professor Amanda Vickery recently had a series broadcast on the BBC. The show is called ‘The Story of Women and Art’ and takes the viewer on a journey to discover a hidden world of female artistry.

If you are a former student, you may be interested in training to become a teacher through our School’s Direct Programme. Please see details in the attached letter below.
