Geography

Welcome to the Geography Department

Mr Bowles

Curriculum Leader for Geography

Geography has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and developing that passion in others is the reason I got into teaching. The wonders of the world around us never cease to surprise and inspire me; I say “wow” at an image from around the world on a daily basis – this planet is fantastic, and we must all take an interest in experiencing all it has to offer, celebrating it and protecting it.  Away from school, I am married and we have two little budding Geographers of my own. I love the great outdoors and can often be found on the hills of the Lake District or the Forest of Bowland, (preferably in the winter when there is plenty of snow about), or on the roads of the Fylde on my bike. I love travel, food and maps!

Mr Ward

Senior Assistant Headteacher

Hello! My name is Mr Ward, as well as being a Geography teacher I’m the Senior Assistant Head with responsibility for KS3 (Years 7 to 9). I studied Geography at Newcastle University before completing my PGCE at Manchester.  Stereotypically for a geographer, I love being outside, walking, cycling and exploring. On a sunny day you’ll usually find me in my garden, either attempting to grow next week’s dinner in my veggie plot or playing with one of my two cats, Lennie and Lola. I’m a lifelong supporter of Burnley Football club, an experience which has taught me that me there can be fun in defeat! I also love food, treating myself Michelin star delights on special occasions. Of course, my favourite snack is an Etna pizza, combining my passion for food and Geography!

Mrs Singleton (Maternity Leave)

Geography Teacher

As a former PGHS student I enjoyed every aspect of school life. I had a successful education, made special memories and developed a passion for Geography. After high school I continued to study Geography and went to The University of Central Lancashire before completing my PGCE at Edge Hill University. I find my subject so interesting and absolutely love teaching students about this amazing planet we live on. I hope to inspire my students just like my Geography teachers did for me. Outside of school, I Iove to travel and explore. I have many places around the world on my bucket list. Additionally, I enjoy dance/cheer, taking my dog out for long walks and am a massive Harry Potter fan!
