Mrs S NaylorI studied a BA(Hons) degree in Physical Education and School Sport and also completed my PGCE in Secondary Physical Education at Edge Hill University. From a very early age my ambition was to become a PE teacher because it provides students with fantastic life skills such as communication, team building and resilience. I am passionate about promoting healthy and active lifestyles as well as encouraging students to continue participating in exercise after they leave Penwortham Girl’s High School. In my free time, I enjoy playing netball and particularly going to the theatre. My favourite musical that I have seen is ‘The Lion King’ – it’s a must see if you haven’t already. |

Mrs K FinnigenI graduated from The University of Hull with a BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree before attending Liverpool John Moores University and completing a PGCE in Physical Education. PE was my favourite subject at school and I became a PE teacher to share my passion for the subject. Even if you’re not a “sporty” person, PE is a fun and engaging way to challenge yourself and try new things. My favourite sports are Athletics and Netball but I have loved teaching a wide range of sports through my career so far and I believe there is a sport for everyone, even if you haven’t found it yet! I have made lots of friends over the years I’ve been involved with sport and firmly believe PE is a great subject to meet new people and expand your friendship groups, no matter how old you are. Outside of school I enjoy going for walks, especially in the Lake District, and like Mrs Naylor, I love musical theatre! |

Mrs G TompsonI studied a BA (Hons) degree in Secondary Teaching Physical Education with Qualified Teacher Status at St Martin’s College in Lancaster. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at High School with my favourite subject being PE. I had a fantastic PE teacher who inspired me to become a PE teacher and share my passion for PE and Sport. I have many years experience teaching PE to a wide range of abilities including students with SEND. PE has so many benefits and is an essential part of the curriculum for all ages and abilities. I love teaching PE and it is a pleasure teaching it to the students at Penwortham Girls’ High School. When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, especially getting outdoors and being active. |
