Parent Council

We are looking for parents to join our Parent Council.  This is an opportunity for you to work with Senior Leaders and other committed parents to actively shape school policies in a relaxed and friendly setting.  You’ll learn a lot more about the school and receive up-to-date information and advice on a wide range of topics including examinations and online safety.

If you would like to find out more then please contact Mr Ramsdale at school or simply turn up to a meeting!  We’d love to see you there.

Here are the dates for the Parent Council meetings during 2023-24:

  • Thursday 21st September 2023
  • Thursday 23rd November 2023
  • Thursday 29th February 2024 (moved from 22nd Feb)
  • Thursday 25th April 2024
  • Thursday 23rd May 2024
  • Thursday 4th July 2024

Meetings take place between 6:00pm and 7:30pm.  Enter school via the Main Entrance.

The Parent Council replaces and builds upon the success of the Parents’ Forum whilst offering parents greater scope to meet, share ideas and feed back to school and crucially, the opportunity to actively contribute to school decision making. It is envisaged that the Parent Council will consist of a smaller yet more stable group of parents and that they will be given specific projects on which to focus. Councils have been established in both primary and secondary schools across the country and they have tackled a wide range of issues including:

  • Home school communication
  • Behaviour policy
  • Safety on the way to and from school
  • School reports
  • Uniform
  • PSHE curriculum
  • Sexual Health Policies
  • Home School Agreement

The inaugural meeting will the attended by the Headteacher and John Ramsdale (AHT) but future meetings may be attended by different members of SLT depending upon the project focus. The views of parents will be reported regularly to governors and other stakeholders.
