“Well after 7 years of not walking in those corridors, it was an absolute delight to step foot in the building once again. I apologise for showing up out of the blue, I saw the Open Evening event was taking place and I just thought I’d take the opportunity to say hello – I am so glad I did. Penwortham Girls’ High is an absolute brilliant High School and I want to say a huge thank you to all the staff for everything they have set me up for in life. The values embedded within the school, the whole positive ethos, the drive it has given me over the past few years – thank you so much. I spoke to a couple of students on my travels and they are an asset- so helpful, well mannered and really portrayed the school in a positive light. And the staff I spoke to, it was so lovely for them to remember after all those years. I really do hope to visit the school in the future, because like I always say, you can take the student out of PGHS, but you can’t take PGHS out of the student. Wishing the staff and students all the best.”

“We attended the open evening with our daughter, currently in Year 5. I’d like to say how impressed we were at everything we saw. The pupils were impeccable and such a huge reflection of a fantastic school. The facilities were amazing and the atmosphere of the school was very inviting and certainly conveyed excellence. Our tour guide (PGHS student) was very knowledgeable, helpful and attentive towards our daughter whilst taking great kindness and patience showing us around; she is a credit to your school and has really been a factor in building up my daughter’s idea of the school and overall impression. We hope to see you soon.”

“We are proud of our daughter and we could not have done it without your support and care for my daughter. She was overwhelmed by the due attention and care she received when she came to school to sit her exams. My daughter has come so far. Once again most appreciative of your support and I wish you all the best too.”

“I just wanted to say thank you for the support you are offering/have been providing my daughter regarding her emotional wellbeing. She has always been of a nervous disposition and the school environment is a particular struggle for her at times. It is really comforting and reassuring to know she has you as a source of safety, information and advocacy whilst she navigates her way through this trying period of time. I think we live in a society where we can be quick to complain when something is wrong and not necessarily acknowledge when something positive happens, so I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for your guidance and encouragement with my daughter. It really is having a positive affect on her emotional wellbeing both in and out of school.”

“Just a short email regarding parents evening last night. It was our first experience and I just wanted to say a huge thank you  . My daughter is and always has been extremely quiet and as a result often becomes unnoticed, I expected this to be even more of an issue when she started high school. I can honestly say every teacher I spoke to last night really knew her and had already identified her lack of confidence and were working to hard encourage her. I felt so pleased after the meetings ,we are so proud of how she has adjusted so well but equally so pleased with the teaching , and pastoral care she is receiving. A huge thanks to everyone.”

“A really big thank you to Mrs Snowdon and all the teachers at Penwortham Girls’ for making my daughter’s experience there so positive. She has absolutely amazed us these past few months, her attitude to learning has turned a massive corner and she is coming home excited about all of her subjects and wanting to work hard to better her education. She has arrived home this afternoon absolutely beaming with delight at getting the Head’s Commendation award in RE and is really looking forward to speaking about her work to Mrs Pomeroy. We are really proud of her and thought it would be nice to share something positive!”

‘My daughter is doing amazing. The amount of work she is getting through is incredible. PGHS are so well-structured for the home learning with team and zoom meetings and they have a proper timetable which is great!’

“I would simply like to pass on my most sincere thanks to Penwortham Girls’ High School (PGHS) as my daughter starts her new adventure at Cardinal Newman College. My daughter has left PGHS as an articulate, questioning, tolerant and independent young woman; just as PGHS intended. She has thoroughly enjoyed her time at high school and will miss it dearly. Hopefully, in the future she will return to the school, which she loves, to tell new students and teachers of the accomplishments she has made. There have been many teachers along the way who have been part of my daughter’s development. It was incredibly humbling to see so many of those teachers at the GCSE results day. When other parents ask about PGHS as a high school choice I cannot praise the school enough. Many hold the same ‘worry bead’ which I had about an all girls school but as Mrs Pomeroy articulated, on the open evening I attended, it would be no different at any other school and the teaching staff at PGHS are well equipped to cope with the trials and tribulations which teenage girls go through. It is the teachers that make PGHS the success it is and I hope that you are all proud of the work you do.”

“As the craziest term of our career draws to a close I wanted to take the opportunity to praise your teaching staff. My daughter has worked so hard, I am so proud of her and she has given herself the best chance for her target grades next year. That could not have been done without the work set and support of her teachers. The work has been meaningful and I can tell aimed at progression. Once again PGHS has confirmed to me that we selected an incredible school for my girls.”

“I just wanted to say a big thank to all the teachers since home schooling began in March. Having read the attached newsletter detailing the plans for September and receiving your personal letter this week, I feel so proud my daughter is going to such a dedicated school. I feel the details that have gone into the future plans as well as home schooling is exceptional and I’m sure wasn’t an easy task to plan and agree. It has been a challenging time for everyone and I realise we could revert again to home schooling in the autumn but I’m confident that whatever happens we will be led by a great school team. I wonder if you can pass on our gratitude to all the staff. I must admit we are ready for a break from home schooling now and we all can’t wait for return to School in September.”

“I would like to send a message of thanks to all of the staff as the school year ends. I don’t feel that we could let this pass without sending our heartfelt thanks. We know that everybody at school has worked tirelessly over the past few months. We appreciate all that has been done, the home learning that has been set and the brilliant communication that has kept us informed. We have just watched the powerpoint presentation on the website and this answers so many questions and helps to reassure too. It really is so helpful. We send our thanks to you all.”

Parent (July 2020)

“I would just like to inform the school that I am so impressed with my daughter at the moment, she is giving 100% to her work and completing everything that is set in all subjects. The feedback, positive responses & merit’s have kept my daughter focused. It is such a difficult and unusual time but PGHS have been fantastic and kept my daughter motivated and interested, so thank you. Please also pass on my thanks to all Teachers.”

Parent (June 2020)

“Thank you for all your support, it has meant an awful lot over the years, a peace of mind. I am so thankful to you and the school for guiding my daughter and helping her to make the best decisions with her. When she started PGHS she was so lost and needed a lot of reassurance and wish I could have looked into the future. Now we see who she has become. She knows her mind and what she wants and we are proud.”

Parent (June 2020)

“Thank you for your email, it was great to be able to come into school as hear all the fabulous comments about my daughter. So overwhelming to hear how well she’s doing and to hear she’s set the prescidence for the whole school with her attitude to learning under this extreme circumstances is an achievement in itself. I cannot thank you all enough for the help, support and understanding you have given to her at Penwortham Girls’ High. A truly super team of teachers and staff! Thank you!”

“I just wanted to say a huge thank-you to you all at PGHS for all of the support and guidance so far. It’s such an unsettling time for all however the support from school has been brilliant and inspiring. We really appreciate all that you are doing. I was really touched last night to read the ‘tweet’ about that the donations of protective goggles and gloves sent from school to the hospital. Thanks to all of the teachers for the home learning, I hope everybody has a good rest and stays safe over the Easter break.”

Parent (April 2020)

“Having just received and read the information-filled Easter Newsletter from PGHS, we feel compelled to pass on our thanks to you and your entire team, for the work that you have all clearly put into making the transition to home learning as smooth as it has been for us. Undoubtedly, the last two weeks have been unprecedented and have brought challenges and concerns for the entire nation. As the parents of a pupil in Year 7 our concerns that our daughter’s learning would be hampered by the upheaval that not attending school would bring have been allayed by the fact that all staff have provided her with clear, vibrant and encouraging pieces of work to complete whilst at home. This fact, together with the recently added Wellbeing tab on Class Charts, really does confirm to us that our daughter’s emotional and educational wellbeing are of the utmost importance to her teachers. We can only imagine the additional pressure that recent developments have put upon you and your staff, but we just want to acknowledge our thanks to you all.”

Parent (April 2020)

“I just had to get in touch with you to express a huge thank you to yourself and all of your dedicated & compassionate team. Ava has always been so happy at Penwortham Girls’ & that is mainly down to a group of staff who go over and above beyond any standard expectations, often giving up their own time to support the girls. Please let them all know how greatly valued and appreciated you all are by us – among many others. We wish you all the very best!”

Parent (March 2020)

“As this is my daughter’s last day, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to her teachers, and indeed all the PGHS staff, who have continued to show such professionalism and care over the last few weeks and days. It has been a stressful and unpredictable time, and not quite how we imagined my daughter’s last term at school!

I think we are all still in shock at the announcement to cancel exams, but although my daughter is hugely disappointed we’ve reassured her that all her hard work and dedication has not been wasted – she has had a fantastic education and experience at PGHS and nothing can take that away from her.”

Parent (March 2020)

“I just wanted to take a few minutes to say thank you to yourself, your staff and Governors for the calm, clear way that you have supported and lead the school and girls through the last couple of weeks and all it’s madness. I have found the daily ParentMail posts really helpful and felt informed and confident that you were keeping astride of the ever changing situation. It can’t have been an easy task! Most importantly though when I was chatting to my daughter Emily yesterday she said that she felt that her teachers had ‘been fantastic’ and it was obvious that she had a lot of respect for them and the school. I am genuinely grateful that my daughter goes to a school that creates this warmth and confidence for it’s pupils.”

“Mrs McGibbon is phenomenal. Her support and guidance for myself and my daughter has made a massive difference”.

“To all the PGHS teachers. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for us. Without you guys, we wouldn’t be successful. Even during all this, you’re still being awesome so thank you, it means a lot. You’re all so amazing :)”

“My time at Penwortham Girls’ High School was an experience that I will never forget. I look back at my high school years and appreciate the effort the teachers put in for me. The teachering is exceptional and would all go the extra mile to help me out. There was always sporting activities and as a sportsperson I valued the extra curriculum available. Penwortham Girls’ has given me the skills and grades to take me to the next step in education. I also made friends for life and would go back and do it all again if I could.”

Former Student

“Penwortham Girls’ made my 5 years at high school the best they could be! The enusthism and resilience the teachers have for their subjects; making sure each and every one of their pupils are ready for GCSEs, to ensure they do their very best. I made friends for life at Penwortham Girls’… wouldn’t have gone anywhere else.”

Former Student

“I cannot express enough how much Penwortham Girls’ High impressed me each and every day with their outstanding treatment of me as a pupil and an individual. I started the school in year seven(2011) as a timid and academically shy student I left with skills enabling me to shine and excel at college not only academically by socially. The schools teaching staff are beyond committed and set a level of discipline that facilitates a high level of success in everything the school does. The pastoral support I received at PGHS was also outstanding; the well-being/ALS staff being attentive and specifically informed to the needs of each pupil. The transition from Primary to High school was one I was especially impressed with as I smoothly was able to do things more independently without feeling I was thrown in at the deep end. Although I left year 11 with 10 GCSE’S A*-B I received so much more than a good academic profile, the skills transferred and the social skills I gained were what I valued the most. With it being an all girls school, the specific emphasis on a whole body/ community gives the school a friendly yet equal opportunity feel; allowing pupils of all abilities to be pushed to their full potential. I cannot recommend this outstanding school enough!”

Former Student

“PGHS’ mission statement is to “prepare articulate, questioning, tolerant, independent women for the future”. Suffice to say, I developed all of these qualities during my time there. Confidence is something I have always struggled with, yet all teachers constantly reassured me and encouraged me to work to the best of my ability. PGHS has not merely helped me learn academically but has helped me learn things about myself and I will forever be grateful for my experiences there. There is always opportunities arising at PGHS; I recently did work experience there.”

“PGHS has a brilliant vibe and looking back, I feel privileged to have spent 5 years studying there. The support of teachers has been invaluable and I certainly wouldn’t be studying at Durham University without the confidence they inspired in me. Overall a great place to be!”

“My time at Penwortham Girls’ High School was an experience I am thankful for as it got me where I am today doing A levels. The extra mile the teachers go to support you is unbelievable from the revision sessions put on in the holidays to the constant help at lunchtimes I couldn’t thank them Enough. I was awful at English and without Mrs Mckeown I wouldn’t have got the B’s I wanted to do English at A level. All my teachers supported me and taught me resilience. My time at Penwortham Girls’ was an experience I’ll never forget which holds amazing memories that I am thankful for.”

Former Student

“I don’t even know where to start in expressing my gratitude towards the school. I didn’t go to PGHS as an A* student, but I left as one, because every single teacher helped me exceed both my target grades and my own expectations at GCSE. I’m a more confident and self-assured person because of my time at PGHS.”
