Music Tuition

Pupils are encouraged to learn an instrument to develop their full musical potential. A number of instruments are loaned to pupils free of charge each year and their progress is monitored. In addition to funding from school, a subscription scheme operates for instrumental lessons offered by the County Instrumental Service and local teachers during school hours and after school.

Tuition is offered on:          

Violin, Viola, ‘Cello, Double Bass, Guitar, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Horns, Cornet, Euphonium, Piano, Keyboard, Voice, Drumming and Theory.

Instrumental teachers are integrated into the department and encouraged to assist in the preparation for key stage 4 performing examinations, Associated Board examinations and to participate in concerts and productions.

The department often hosts visiting musicians to hold workshops from Lancashire Music Service, the local community and visiting professionals
