Erin McLernon

I gained a scholarship to join the British Army in 2018 whilst studying for A Levels after leaving PGHS. I achieved my degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2022 from St George’s, University of London (now City St George’s) whilst also being a part of the University of London Officers’ Training Corps. This offered me the opportunity to get paid to complete my degree, travel the world and get involved in team sports with other young potential officers. I then spent a year working in the private care sector in London.

In 2024 I was awarded a King’s Commission after a year of intense physical, mental and intellectual leadership training at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. I am currently a Lieutenant in the Royal Army Medical Service and lead a troop of combat medical technicians and combat nurses. In the next year I am taking part in multiple overseas exercises to maintain readiness to deploy at short notice as part of the British Army’s Global Response Force.
