Quality in Careers Standard

🎉 We’re proud to share some fantastic news! 🎉

Our school has officially achieved the Quality in Careers Standard, recognising the high standard of careers education, information, advice and guidance we provide for our students.

This award reflects our commitment to helping every learner explore their options, develop key skills, and feel confident about their next steps, whether that’s further education, training, or employment.

A huge thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive partners, and of course our students, who make this achievement possible. We’re excited to keep building bright futures together!

PGHS Aspirations Evening

On Wednesday 15th October 2025, Penwortham Girls’ High School proudly hosted its annual Aspirations Evening, a vibrant and inspiring event organised by our Careers Advisor, Shaheen Gul, and Careers Leader, Mr Ramsdale. Held from 4pm to 7pm, the evening welcomed over 200 families and featured more than 40 employers, university and college representatives.

The event showcased a wide range of career pathways and educational opportunities, with representatives from British Aerospace, Royal Air Force, Kepak, Ashbridge Nurseries, Blackpool NHS Trust, Bower & Kirkland, Ribby Hall, One Stop Hire, Leyland Trucks, British Army, and Deafway among many others.

Mr Ramsdale was particularly impressed by the quality of conversations taking place and the high level of engagement from both students and parents. “It was fantastic to see our students asking thoughtful questions and exploring their future options with such enthusiasm,” he said.

The evening received an average rating of 2.6 out of 3 from attendees, reflecting its success as an enjoyable and engaging experience for all involved. Feedback from students, parents, employers, and college representatives was overwhelmingly positive:-

  • “Great opportunity to meet Key Stage 4 students.”
  • “Great to speak to people at a young age.”
  • “Able to talk to the employers I wanted to meet.”
  • “Provide careers advice in construction / STEM roles.”
  • “There is a lot more to some jobs than you would think, and they can take you to different places.”

This event highlighted the ambition and curiosity of PGHS students and the strong partnerships the school continues to build with local and national organisations. We look forward to making next year’s Aspirations Evening even bigger and better!

Year 11 Mock Interviews

On Friday 17th January, all Year 11 students took part in mock interviews. Mock interviews are a great way to help students prepare for the world of work.

The process included completing an application form for a fictional job and attending a mock interview here at PGHS. Feedback was given to the girls with advice on how they could improve. This could be anything from interview technique to preparation.

The event was a great success with interviewers praising the girls effort and commitment. Feedback from our volunteers was extremely positive

Thank you to all our volunteers (parents, staff, governors and employers) from various business backgrounds who came into school to interview the girls.
