Key Stage 3 Computing

Year 7 students have been designing and creating their own game using Scratch. The game has to have a theme about healthy eating and must educate others all about being healthy. The games have to include a variety of scripts, sprites and variables and then will be evaluated and assessed. The games that have been planned are fantastic and show a lot of imagination.

Year 8 students have been building their knowledge about binary and have explored the world of programming by using python. They will also be learning about algorithms and flowcharts and will be using Flowol to create some flowcharts for different mimics, exploring inputs and outputs.

Year 9 students are learning about advanced programming skills using python. Students have recalled their previous learning from year 8 with some of the basics and have now moved on to discover functions, loops and more advanced programming skills. This is giving them a taste of GCSE Computer Science. They will then be moving onto learning about how the the components work within a computer and will also be exploring the ethics that surround Computer Science technology.
