Year 7 Students Explore the Berlin Wall and Celebrate German Reunification

This month, our Year 7 students embarked on an engaging history lesson focusing on the Berlin Wall and its significance in German history. As part of their learning, students delved into the story of the wall’s construction, the division it created and the eventual reunification of Germany in 1989.

To make the lesson even more impactful, students participated in a creative activity by making handprints that symbolise unity and freedom. Each handprint represented a message of hope and the importance of coming together, reflecting the spirit of reconciliation that followed the wall’s fall.

The students discussed the profound effects of the Berlin Wall on families and communities and how its dismantling paved the way for a brighter future. This hands-on project allowed them to express their understanding of this pivotal moment in history while fostering a sense of empathy and connection.

It was a memorable experience that not only enriched their knowledge of German history but also encouraged them to think about the values of unity and freedom. We are proud of our Year 7 students for their thoughtful participation and creativity.
