PGHS COVID 19 – Daily Routines

Arrangements for the School Day

START OF THE SCHOOL DAY:

  1. Core SLT on site for 8:20am and will arrange between them who supervises the Entrance Gate/Break/Lunchtime/Entrance Gate at end of day
  2. Students arrive through Dining Room door into Dining Room, they are seated 2 metres apart and met by a member of Core SLT, asked to sanitise hands, and a register is taken at 9:00am.
  3. Register distributed to Office Member and Duty DSL allowing safeguarding phone calls to be made and the DfE register completed.
  4. Core SLT draw up the day’s rota and allocate students to classrooms and teachers
  5. Staff arrive at 8:55am and go to classrooms for 9:00am start.

DAILY CLASSROOMS ROUTINES:

  • Students should be sat in compliance with social distancing rules, ideally as far apart as possible but definitely no less than 2 metres apart, WITH NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Students must be directed to sit in the same seats for all 5 periods.
  • Once students are seated, they are not to leave their chair for any reason.
  • Students cannot work with any other student, if this requires them to sit together. 
  • Students only to complete work that is set on Class Charts.
  • Students should be continuously monitored by Impero.
  • If a student requests support, advice or wishes to communicate with the supervising teacher for any reason, they must raise their hand and not leave their seat.  The teacher will deal with the pupil, verbally and maintaining social distance of 2 metres.
  • If the student can no longer continue with a task, then they must move on to another task.  If the query relates to ICT then email the help desk.
  • Students must bring their own equipment for the day.  As a minimum this should be a pen, pencil and ruler as well as their exercise books.  If student’s timetable includes a subject like Art on a particular day then they should bring the required equipment.

BEHAVIOUR RULES AND ROUTINES:

  • The usual Warn Move Remove system in place.
  • A member of Core SLT will be available to be contacted at any point during the day via phone or email.
  • If a First Aider is required to attend a classroom then contact reception.
  • Students who are removed will be isolated in the medical room for the rest of the day. 
  • Core SLT will notify parents that their daughter has been removed, and has been given a warning that any further unacceptable behaviour will result in them being excluded.

BREAKS AND LUNCHES:

  • At the start of break and lunch, the supervising teacher will escort all their students to the nearest toilets to wash their hands.  This will be done at staggered 2 minute intervals to ensure that students are never with lots of other students:

  • They will take their students to the outdoor seating area, where they will be supervised by a member of SLT.  Students will be directed to get their lunch by Core SLT, one at a time.
  • The students will observe the social distancing rules throughout break and lunchtime, and this will be actively monitored by Core SLT.
  • If a student wishes to use the toilet during lunchtime, then they must gain permission first.

END OF THE SCHOOL DAY:

  • At 3:10pm, teachers will direct students to save work, log off, gather possessions and tidy up their area.
  • From 3:15pm onwards, students will be accompanied by their teacher via the shortest route to the side gate off the quad. This will be done at staggered 2 minute intervals to ensure that students are never with lots of other students:

ROOM 43 – 3:19pm (VIA SCIENCE STAIRS AND EXIT OPPOSITE ROOM 26)

ROOM 35 – 3:21pm (VIA EXIT OPPOSITE ROOM 23)

  • Staff members are expected to organise themselves so that they are able to leave the school premises as soon as possible.
