Marissa King Virtual Athlete

On Friday 11th of December, year 8 had the opportunity to meet a professional athlete – virtually of course! The girls had the privilege of meeting and speaking to Marissa King who is a professional gymnast. Marissa represented Great Britain in the 2008 Olympics in Beijin, at just 17 years of age. She was offered a full scholarship to the University of Florida in America where she continued to compete and pursue her career as a professional gymnast. Recently, Marissa was selected to perform for the prestigious Cirque de Soleil company. The students enjoyed listening to Marissa explain how she became a professional gymnast, watched her demonstrate a double back somersault and asked her questions about her life. The girls loved the opportunity and we hope Marissa may join us in the future at PGHS to inspire more of our students.
