Jam Tarts Competition

This year’s STEM festival witnessed sweet success in the Jam Tarts Competition! This delightful event showcased the incredible baking talents from year 7 and 8 students. Students learnt about the science behind ingredients, learning specifically the functional and chemical properties of fats and flour to make the perfect pastry for jam tarts.  The competition saw enthusiastic participation from many students, each bringing their unique twist to the classic jam tart. Our young bakers worked tirelessly, carefully selecting their favourite jams, perfecting their pastry techniques and adding creative touches to their entries. The aroma of freshly baked tarts filled the school, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation. Our panel of judges (Mrs Bennett, Miss Scott and Mrs Moss) had the delicious, yet challenging task of tasting and evaluating each tart. They considered flavour, texture, presentation and creativity in their scoring. Well done to the winners!
