Introducing Mr Martin

Hello,

My name is Mr Martin, a trainee science teacher who will be with the science department at PGHS up until Christmas. My speciality is in Physics, but I have a fascination for anything which is intriguing and not immediately obvious at first glance, which I find to be pretty much anything in science!

As you may quickly be able to tell if we get a chance to chat at some point in the future, I’m not exactly a local. I originate from the West Coast of Scotland, from a small village near Glasgow. Before starting to train as a teacher I worked as an aerospace engineer for 10 years, serving in the RAF and working for several large engineering companies. This has taken me all over the UK, as well as to several places overseas. I still retain a love of all things related to aircraft, which in my view, are some of the most incredible feats of ingenuity and engineering which humanity has created.

In my spare time, I’m very much an ‘outdoorsy’ person with a litany of activities I enjoy taking part in. My passion is in climbing and mountaineering but I also love rugby (union – sorry), football, golf, badminton and tennis. I also love reading, primarily fiction, with my favourite authors including Sebastian Faulks, Louis de Bernières, Kazuo Ishiguro, Jane Austin and particularly Charles Dickens.
