Historical Fiction Book Club

This term, over 60 students have joined our new Historical Fiction Book Club. Year 7 are currently reading ‘The Skylarks’ War’ by Hilary McKay.  Year 8 are reading ‘Tamar’ by Mal Peet and Year 9 are reading ‘Animal Farm’ by George Orwell.

We are holding our first book club meetings over the next few weeks, where we will discuss our novels and give our thumbs up (and hopefully not too many thumbs down)! We will also discuss some of the historical themes that are to be found in each book.

Each term, a new book will be issued to each pupil who is part of the club. By the end of the year, we will have worked through a number of classic and contemporary novels. If any pupils would like to join in time for next term’s book, please speak to Mr Bretherton before the Christmas break.
