Future Engineer Virtual Fulfilment Centre

On Tuesday 5th October, some year 11 students had the pleasure of listening to a talk by Amazon. This zoom session allowed the students to go behind the scenes at their Fulfilment Centres (FCs) to show them how computer science, state-of-the-art engineering and incredible people fulfil customer orders at Amazon. They discussed the process from ordering, to packaging, to sorting and delivery. Key items of machinery and processes were discussed with the aim to increase awareness of computing and robotics, as well as sustainability. They even mentioned the use of drones in the future to deliver our parcels. What is your opinion on this? What would our life like be with drones delivering our day to day parcels?
