Christmas Star

Christmas Star1.jpgThroughout December we have been encouraging all our students to be a Penwortham Girls’ ‘Christmas Star’ by Spreading Tremendous hAppiness aRound and we have to admit that they have exceeded all of our expectations yet again. Students were asked to support a number of charitable causes, which included bringing in a donation for the Penwortham Food Bank or a gift for the Rock FM Mission Christmas Appeal. Each year group has had a Christmas tree in their zone with boxes placed under the tree. The girls have been amazing, bringing in both gifts and food, so much so, we have had to empty the boxes on a number of occasions. Girls have also been collecting empty crisp packets which will be made into ‘survival blankets’.  These will then be given to those in need to help keep them warm.  The girls have also been extremely generous in purchasing the Derian House teddies which sold out in the first few lunchtimes. In addition to all of this, students in Year 7 have been spending their rainy break and lunchtimes creating colourful cards and pictures to send to local care homes. We are incredibly proud of everyone who has contributed to the Christmas Star initiative and truly believe that by working together we have been able to Spread Tremendous hAppiness aRound.
