Exam Results 2016

Once again, the students of Penwortham Girls’ High School have achieved an outstanding set of examination results. This year, 75.2% of Year 11 students achieved the gold standard of five GCSEs A*-C including English and mathematics, showing an increase from last year’s results. A fantastic achievement given that results nationally have fallen this year across the country!

PGHS students continue to excel in English and mathematics.  Their expected levels of progress far outstrip national figures, as shown below.

These outstanding results enable our students to pursue their ambitions and progress into further and higher education.

We are particularly proud of students who make exceptional levels of progress, which is testament to their resilience and hard work. On average, students at Penwortham Girls’ High School achieve half a GCSE grade higher in all their subjects than students nationally, taking into account their starting points. This is a new government measure and for two consecutive years PGHS has achieved remarkable results.

Headteacher Karen Pomeroy commented   ‘As always, at this time of year, I would like to say what an absolute privilege it is to work with such a professional and committed teaching and associate staff. They have, as ever, been extremely generous in the giving of their time so that our students have been well prepared for their final exams. I have also been very impressed with the tremendous work ethic and behaviour of our students.’
