Year 7

As a judge for the R.E interfaith week project, I was part of the team tasked with choosing which symbol best represented ultimate respect for all religions. I was so impressed with the designs as they all put in a lot of thought and effort. The mobile had amazing interactive features and overall it was a very elegant, delicate piece. The hat had a diverse selection of different symbols on it to help represent everyone equally, which was wonderful. Finally, the heart was also interactive with important messages inside each individual box, such as the Golden Rule which really brings together people of different faiths today.

Year 8
As part of the Judaism module, our Year 8 students have been exploring the issue of Anti-Semitism using The Windermere Children as a powerful case study. Three lessons were dedicated to studying the suffering experienced by Jewish people during the Holocaust. Their final project was to design a Holocaust Memorial that combined their knowledge of Jewish faith with their understanding of the Holocaust. This enable them to create something that honoured those who suffered while also celebrating the resilience and dignity of the Jewish community. This project strongly reflected our school values of dignityand compassion—dignity in recognising the humanity of those who endured such hardship, and compassion in responding with empathy and a commitment to meaningful remembrance. We were incredibly impressed by the thoughtful, sensitive and creative memorials produced. They demonstrated deep respect, emotional maturity and a sincere desire to honour and uplift the Jewish community.
