Preston City Mela Festival

PGHS were thrilled to be asked to be involved in this year’s Preston City Mela Festival. The festival celebrates South Asian arts, music, dance, culture and heritage. A selection of our very talented dancers across all year groups attended a Bollywood dance workshop in school and have learnt a Bollywood Dance that has been filmed and will be played on the big screen at the festival on Moor Park in Preston on Saturday 6th July 2024. The girls were taught by a very skillful and gifted Bollywood dancer and they had Bollywood dance props (wooden sticks), costumes and even got to decorate their own props to add a personal touch to their performance. Mrs Hall’s special prizes for the best decorated sticks were awarded to Chloe L and Ruby S. The girls thoroughly enjoyed learning the dance, working with each other and performing. We can’t wait to see them on the big screen at the festival. Well done to all our fantastic dancers – Gauri C, Jayanni S, Tess W, Eniola F-D, Chloe L, Charlotte G, Jessica B, Lucy R, Ida S, Bella N, Emily T, Grace W, Jenya Z, Deeya G, Lilly-Mae F, Grace G, Layla S, Taya-Louise B, Lucie J, Layla H, Darcey P, Zara H, Emma C, Savannah H, Maisie J, Ruby S, Purdey A.
