Year 11 Impress with Powerful GCSE English Speeches
During the week of 20th October, every student in Year 11 took part in a unique and inspiring challenge; delivering an individual speech as part of their non-examined assessment for GCSE English.
Each student had a 10-minute slot to present their speech showcasing not only their speaking and listening skills, but also their ability to research, reflect and express themselves with clarity and confidence. The range of topics was truly remarkable—students explored everything from “Are serial killers born or made?” to the impact of social media, male mental health, ethical billionaires, the importance of music and even baking as therapy.
The diversity of ideas and the depth of thought behind each speech were genuinely impressive. It was clear that students had invested time and care into their planning, preparation and delivery. Whether tackling complex societal issues or sharing personal passions, every student brought something unique to the task.
You did yourselves proud, girls. Your voices were powerful, your ideas were compelling and your confidence shone through. You’ve shown yourselves to be thoughtful communicators, passionate thinkers and powerful orators for the future.
Congratulations on a fantastic achievement!
