Warner Bros. Studio Tour and Covent Garden: A Magical Two-Day Adventure

Thirty-two of our Year 9 students recently enjoyed an unforgettable two-day trip to London.

After a long journey we arrived at Warner Bros Studio Tour London to find the sets dressed for snow. The Great Hall looked spectacular, set for the magical snowball scene. We also took part in a fascinating hands-on session with film props and creatures, where students saw a mandrake, the hands of the goblins who run Gringotts Bank, examined Voldemort’s cloak and Luna’s ball outfit, all genuine props and costumes used in the films.

The highlights came thick and fast. The broomstick experience was a firm favourite, giving students the thrill of “flying” and a keepsake photo. In the Forbidden Forest, misty pathways and towering trees created an atmospheric world that brought the films to life. Gringotts Bank dazzled with its grandeur, and the goblin bankers sparked questions about prosthetics and costume design. The Weasleys’ flying car made for a brilliant photo opportunity and plenty of laughter, while stepping onto Platform 9 3/4 and alongside the Hogwarts Express felt like walking straight into the story. We even boarded the iconic Knight Bus, marvelling at its quirky design and on-screen magic. The whole tour was wonderfully interactive, giving students the chance to see, touch and learn at every turn.

Some students sampled butterbeer with a mixed verdict on its taste and many picked up souvenirs from the shop to remember the day. We then headed straight to bowling for tea where the friendly competition and team spirit were on full display, before rounding off the evening with the amusements and an impressive haul of prize tickets.

On day two we explored Covent Garden, beginning at the Apple Market. Students then split into small, staff-led groups to discover a mix of Art, clothing and beauty stalls and shops. We finished at the Jubilee Market, with plenty of chatter about favourite finds and street performances along the way.

A huge well done to our students for their exemplary conduct and enthusiasm and a big thank you to the staff who supported the trip. It was a memorable blend of culture, creativity and fun. It’s an experience we’ll be talking about for a long time.
