This term in Life Skills, our students have been busy developing the knowledge and skills that will help them thrive both in and beyond school.
Year 7 have settled into secondary life while learning about Parliament, British Values, and Equal Opportunities, building a strong sense of community and fairness.
Year 8 have focused on wellbeing and explored Human Rights and Children’s Rights, discovering how organisations like UNICEF protect young people worldwide.
Year 9 have tackled real-life challenges, discussing knife crime and the risks of drugs and alcohol, helping them make safe and informed choices.
Year 10 have explored mental health and Core RS, reflecting on big questions such as “What is the Soul?” and how beliefs shape identity.
Meanwhile, Year 11 have been preparing for the future with revision strategies, college applications and mock interviews to boost confidence for the next stage of their journey.
We are incredibly proud of their hard work and growth this term and look forward to continuing these important conversations in the new year.
This term, Year 7 have been working on an exciting Monarchy project, which has allowed them to combine research skills with creativity.
Each week, students completed a short research task to build their final project, exploring topics such as the Royal Family’s lineage to the throne, creating a biography of King Charles, discovering why the King has two birthdays and learning about a Royal ceremony of their choice. The finished projects have been fantastic and reflect the hard work and enthusiasm of our Year 7 students. We are so proud of what they have achieved!
Our assemblies this term have closely linked with Life Skills lessons, helping students reflect on important global themes.
In September, we marked World Democracy Day, which connected perfectly with Year 7 and Year 8 learning about British Values, Parliament and Human Rights.
At the start of December, inspired by World AIDS Day, students explored how everyone can flourish despite barriers to success, promoting compassion and resilience. A special thank you goes to Anna B in Year 9 and Izzie S in Year 10 for their fantastic contributions to these assemblies!
