This week, our Year 10 students have embarked on their work experience placements, gaining invaluable hands-on exposure to the world of work. Alongside this, we’ve organised a series of workplace visits for students eager to explore a variety of industries.
On Monday, a group of students visited Ribby Hall Village, where they were introduced to the diverse range of careers available within the organisation. From preparing animal feeds and touring the impressive facilities, to learning about roles across different departments, the visit offered a comprehensive look into the breadth of opportunities in the hospitality and leisure sector.
Students also engaged in a marketing-focused task set by the Ribby Hall team—an excellent opportunity to apply their learning in a real-world context. Their enthusiasm and professionalism were a credit to our school.
A huge thank you to the team at Ribby Hall Village for hosting such an informative and inspiring session. Opportunities like this truly help bridge the gap between education and employment.
Another exciting opportunity for our students was visiting Delta Hotels, where they explored the wide range of careers available in the hospitality industry. From housekeeping and front-of-house roles, to dining services, students gained valuable insights into the daily operations of the hotel. A highlight of the visit was preparing their own mocktails—an interactive and fun way to learn more about the dining and beverage service sector.
This behind-the-scenes experience opened students’ eyes to the variety of career paths the hospitality sector offers and helped them appreciate the skills and teamwork involved.
Students also visited Keepmoat Construction, where they learned about different roles in the construction industry and the many career opportunities it provides. As part of the visit, they were challenged to take on a design project and will have the chance to enter their work into a competition.
These visits are part of our ongoing effort to build strong relationships with local employers and provide students with meaningful workplace encounters. We look forward to expanding this model next year so that all students have the opportunity to connect classroom learning with the world of work and explore potential future careers.
