Textiles

In Textiles this last week, the students have been using their creativity to design a range of different designs for an adventure story character. They will use these designs to create a 3D version of their character using various fabrics and techniques. It involves various skills such as hand embroidery and also using a sewing machine. Year 7 really enjoy the creativity of this project as it gives them a lot of freedom to use their imaginations.

These designs are from Cerys W, Emma, Serenity MB and Sophia E.

In Year 8 Textiles, students are creating a bag inspired by the work of different designers. The repeat patterns created here are taken from the work of Yinka Ilori, Aljoud Lootah and Louis Comfort Tiffany. Students are encouraged to play around with the images until they create a unique image which will then be printed on to fabric using a heat press. The examples shown here are from Callie W, Alice T, Alice H, Fatima A, Mollie S, Gauri C, Darcy H and Sadie D.
